Toshiba 34HF83 vs. Sony 34XBR910

I am looking for a 16:9 TV for a home theater. I am currently looking at the Toshiba 34HF83 ($1500 on Amazon including shipping) and the Sony 34XBR910 ($2000+tax in local stores).

Given the price differential and picture quality, which would be the better selection? I already have an NAD T753 reciever and Energy C-3 speakers. I will most likely be pairing the TV with a NAD T532 progressive scan DVD player, and intend to use it almost exclusively for viewing DVDs. I will be sitting roughly 10 feet from the TV screen.

I was considering LCD/Plasma and front projection, but found the CRT TVs to provide the best quality picture for the price.

Any opinions on this particular Sony vs. Toshiba decision? Any comments on picture quality and service histories that I may be missing? Which is the best overall value?

Thanks!

HM
