Sony KV-30HS420 30" HDTV

4.13.72.91

Does anyone reading this board have experience watching movies in widescreen anamorphic DVDs on a 30" CRT HDTV, such as the Sony KV-30HS420 30" 16:9 FD Trinitron WEGA Hi-Scan HDTV Ready TV?

I'm trying to set up a "home theater" in a small bedroom (11' by 13'). I agree that the larger the screen--to a degree--the better, but I'm not ready to drop 4,000.00 for a plasma--yet (the cheaper plasmas--some EDTV--I don't prefer).

This new Sony is a nice price point--1,000.00--and has HDMI output (hope it is implemented properly). The 34" version presents a larger screen, but costs a bit more (500.00), dwarfs my TV stand (& room), and is awful heavy (the 30" is already pushing weight-wise what I can wrestle with).

My current experience is watching DVD movies on a 32" Sony from about 8-9 feet from TV. I'd sit closer to set in bedroom and have advantage of 16:9 set, not to mention 480p or above picture quality.

regards, townsend
