Will it be worth it to blow a Grand or more on a Blu-Ray player you know will be extremely replaceable in 2 years time ?

I have a 720p display, aging (non-HDMI) DD/DTS pre/pro and "only" a 5.1 audio system. PS3 video looks awesome on this display but I'm limited to plain-jane DD/DTS over optical. The LG looks like it'll give me an awesome picture but with 5.1 DTS-HD analog sound which is pretty good; Except it has no 7.1 analog audio support and it may be years before I have an HDMI-capable pre/pro or Receiver.

My wishlist includes outstanding Blu-Ray,(HD-DVD? and upscaled DVD video plus HDMI 1.3 compliance and 7.1 analog outputs which supports all audio Codecs (downgradable to 5.1 for current setup). Is there any current player which matches this wishlist today (or perhaps in the near-future) ?
