I've read that early HDMI may not be fully compatible with present HDMI and there's still work being done today on the HDMI spec that may prevent present HDMI from working with the future spec. What is the latest version of HDMI, 1, 1.2, 1.3, etc? Some manufacturers don't even pass audio through HDMI and offer just video and video switching capability. Many 'processors' and receivers don't have HDMI interfaces today. Are these manufacturers still waiting for the spec to settle down?
Is it too early to embrace HDMI or is everybody finally on the same page for compatibility? I've even read that there's another HDMI connector type in the works because early connectors are too flimsy.
Where are we with HDMI?
