I have a few dvds featuring two soundtrack mixes... a 5.1 dolby surround mix and a 2.0 dolby mix... when I play these movies through my 2 channel hi-fi (DVD player outputting to my MSB DAC via toslink or coax), the 5.1 always sound better with more dynamics, and with some of the surround effects coming from the sides and behind.
So my questions is why a 2.0 mix when the 5.1 plays better even on a 2-channel system?
