We have now listened to this with several documentaries and a couple of movies so I can report very positive findings. The surround sound is very integrated and smooth (via the Meridian 861 on a 7.1 system) and compares very favourably to AC3. Frankly I could live quite happily with this with no AC3.However, as reported on General, so far I do not regard Pro logic II as an asset to convert 2 track audio only stereo to surround. However, when the attention is diverted with video, it improves some music laserdiscs although this jury is still out on how often it will be used.
So, if you can upgrade your processor to pro logic II then do so, or if you are buying new, look out for its inclusion.
