That simple.

The studios don't make much in late run or second runs - most of that goes to the exhibitors. Studios & distributors make their biggest cut on the front end, which is why even probable bombs are front loaded into theaters for release on as many screens as possible. The longer the flick is at your local cineplex, the less the studio makes and the more the theater chain makes.

At $1-4 a pop, they ain't makin' much in second run houses either.

So it's on to new revenue streams.
