Improved Standard DVD via new DVD players....target is BluRay players

Posted by Carl G on September 27, 2008 at 08:08:48:

Most of you seem to review films exclusively, this post is nothing more than an fyi regarding new DVD players aimed at those who dont want to buy expensive BluRay discs and their expensive players.
Toshiba has a new player (XDE-500), out for a couple of months that enhances your old 24Hz films. The goal is to breath new life into your existing DVD film library.
Many on this thread below are impressed by the Toshiba, some ....not so convinced.
While checking it out,I found that there is a company, SHOMI that now has a similar technology , and of course, is touted to be a step up from the XDE-500.
My post is fyi, no affiliation with either mfr.
