To my knowledge this isn't even available on DVD yet and if it were it would probably be the Zoetrope version that the Coppola's released after editing down and rescoring (i.e., by Carmine Cappola) the first restoration completed by Kevin Brownlow. Since then Kevin has done two additional restorations of Gance's masterpiece, the second to "undo" the editing of Copolla's released version, restoring footage, and the third to accomodate higher quality footage from a recently discovered fine grain 35mm print that was, miraculously, found in excellent condition. This restoration extended the films length to over 5 hours which is still some 30 minutes shorter than the original 1927 release version. Unfortunately, Brownlow's most complete restoration if viewed at all can only be seen in theaters (i.e., most likely in Europe or Canada) due to Coppola's invoking non-competition clauses to prevent this great work from being released in any other restoration than the Zoetrope version in the U.S.That's pretty much how things were in June of 2000; if there's newer information I've overlooked please elaborate.
