"Please Kill Mr. Kinski," Dir. David Schmoeller's short film on working with the very difficult Klaus Kinski, is featured on the Troma DVD "Best of Tromadance Film Festival, Volume 1." Adolescent, but also worthwhile is "H.R. Pukenshette" on the same disk.Denise Richards' talent dance with a life-size, crucified Jesus in "Drop Dead Gorgeous" left me speechless and horrified.
I just watched "Shiri", a formulaic but well-made action/intrigue/romance film from Korea. It has elements of "La Femme Nikita" and "Day of the Jackal", and a Carol Kidd love song for all you Linnies out there. Interesting that the backdrop for the climax is a unification soccer match between the North and South Korean teams in 1999. How could the filmmakers possibly know how well their team would perform in the 2002 World Cup, or how significant that outcome would be to the pride and esteem of Koreans?
