Watched the HEIST again tonight. I think I know the reason for the mild to moderate irritation I felt after seeing it when it first came out - Mamet's wives are his achilles heels; first one almost sank the HOUSE OF GAMES and the current one, Rebecca Pidgeon, didn't help this one, not to mention THAT WINSLOW BOY, which wasn't such a great film anyway. Colder than a well digger's ass she is.
Either[or both] that, or Mamet just can't write for women. I've experienced the same problem in my writing days. It IS a very tough thing to do.
