Re: Watched It Last Night

i was one that recommended forbidden games. of the ones you mentioned so far, i have that one and the seven samauri.

forbidden games grabs you right from the start with the little girl losing her parents and carrying the dead dog. maybe it gets a little drawn out in the middle but the family characters are atypical and interesting.

the ending of this film is a killer. the loss that this child experiences is too much for me to bear.

red, blue, are more modern french films and i brought one of them home but only watched 5 minutes of it.

want to see a top foreign film of all time? they probably don't have it but the indian film 'pather pachali' is a must see. as tragic as 'forbidden games', the characters are even more ordinary and real. but it is also an artistic/philosophical achievement like a great work of art.

want a good italian film in an american action type genre? check out 'flight of the innocent'. action italian style (i.e., feelings too).

and a favorite italian comedy? 'johnny stecchino'. why the world loves robert begnigni. at least i do (but 'life is beautiful' was not a great film).
