I don't think you're being fair to Eyes Wide Shut. You want to make His Girl Friday out of a movie that's fundamentally about intrigue, uncertainty and atmosphere. It's one thing to say that it's not your cup of tea - something like Chinatown would probably be - but it's another to say that the film is crap because it's not what you wanted to see.Personally, I didn't like how Eyes Wide Shut tries to explain things at the end. It worked against a lot of the intrigue and curiosity that was built up. I am thinking of 2001 as another Kubrick movie that really allowed the intrigue and curiosity linger on after it ended ...
