A private person is suing MGM over fake letterbox movies (DVD/VHS I forgot) as reported in the LA Times business section today. He claims that some 'letterbox' movies are trimmed in both the lateral AND vertical dimensions to make a thin, letterox looking version that only contains 66% or so of the full footage. Maybe they are taking the usual junk version and further cutting the top-bottom dimension--a fake letterbox! Another blow for quality control.(Wanna bet he'll settle for a writing gig?)
