It is an interesting piece, clark, and little wonder it's got no response so far. Most of that is well known facts, of course, to a serious movie buff all those names should be like multiplication tables. But there are some interesting observations, of course. Bergman's influence has been widely spread - I am sure you are aware people like Tarkovsky also borrowed his personnel. Looks like many would take any opportunity to simply touch the Great One in any possible way... nothing wrong with that, I would love that chance too. Imagine - a beer in a hotel lobby with Ingmar. "Listen, buddy Ingmar, that Darkly stuff of yours - wasn't it a bit too, well, "darkly"? How about the sequel - we could call it something like... something like... well, never mind, let's have another one!"So thanks, an interesting read, I need to show it to my wife as she respects the old Woody and adores Ingmar.
PS: did you ever go to see that Dovzhenko festival?
