Mates,I have long loved the darkly humourous paintings of British painter Francis Bacon and his life was remarkable in his eccentric acquaintances and way of life. In 1998, there was a film "Love is the Devil" with Derek Jacobi as Bacon about the period of Bacon's life when he was involved with George Dyer, an East End London semi-literate ne'er do well. Dyer appears in quite a number of Bacon paintings, as Bacon painted peeople he knew well, and Bacon had a strng relationship for quite some time- maybe 6 or 7 years. But tragically, Dyer committed suicide while Bacon was having a major retrospective in Paris in 1971.
This movie came and went quietly and quickly in Los Angeles while I was away and I have never been able to find it on video- or know anyone personally that saw it.
Have you seen it? Is it around on tape or disk?
Cheers,
Bambi B
