Fun, fun, fun. But ya gotta know when you go in, Ophuls or Renoir or Tarkovsky or Almodovar it ain't. It *is*, a completely entertaining movie about a con job that spins spectacularly out of control. Two bonus features:
I never felt cheated. The writer and director offered sufficient clues, one might have caught on to the denoument, I realized afterwards. But maybe it's more fun to get captured in the flow than to be analytical.
Ed Burns as an actor. Apart from too-good looks, perfectly believable. Also it's fine to hear a *tenor* voice in a leading man; that's what they do in opera, after all.
Two small problems:
One of the con subplots I still don't see the need for, in the overall organization of things.
Dustin Hoffmann. He chews the scenery. But it still works.
