The whole story is a big ho-hum, except for the theater owners. Audience doesn't give a damn, and will never know the difference.One thing that the article mentioned, but didn't hammer down appropriately - the life expectancy of the projectors.
The film ones represent the mature technology, with no obsolescence in the product - they are simply replaced when they break.
But as anyone familiar with the digital projectors knows, if you have one that is three years old it is already obsolete.
In many ways it is like the PC technology - where a one year old product is not exciting any longer.
So I think the theaters are being smart dragging their feet.
