Bob le Flambeur..

After seeing " The Good Thief " and beeing move with the astuce and erotically laden film, without counting a good film score, I wanted to compare it to the original.
J-P Melville a Jew from Alsace who did his ..homework against the nazis in the resistance and in England choose to remain fidel to his non Jewish " nom de guerre ", so he remains " Melville ".
This film is the father of " L´Ascenseur pour L´Echafaud " and mother for " A bout de Souffle " and other film noir from the nouvelle vague.
One of his first and best ( in my eyes ) was the precedent " le Silence de la Mer " from Vercors novel, every France and poete lover should have seen this one.
Later on I did not like his films particulary his most sucessful " Le Samurai "...
Bob is a good film, interessting to look at ..Paris...Pigalle...in the 50´s...here is no faked studios atmosphere..he did get out with his camera....very sexy...one of the most attractive bare breast ever on celluloid...from an...15 years old girl ( so they says..)
John Huston in French.
The remakes got it right.
