... How was Tim Robbin's character able to successfully conceal a man-sized hole in his cell wall for nearly 20 years simply by taping a flimsy paper movie poster over it. Never mind for the moment that he seriously expected to stay in this same cell for 20 years. He was in solitary for over a month near the end, for chrissake! No one used his cell? And none of the guards ever searched it in 20 years?OK, maybe I'm taking the movie too literally. And there is no little satisfaction in seeing the warden get his in the end. But even though the script is purposely overwrought "pulp fiction" and there are many grossly unrealistic events portrayed in the movie, I still, for some reason, can't get past this particular "hole" in the plot. I'll have to watch more closely next time - maybe it's one of those trick endings (like in "Brazil") where the last few minutes slip into a dream sequence and the guy really did hang himself...
