April 8, 1948, and the Germans are advancing into Norway. Esperdal, a former lieutenant and merchant marine, feels the patriotic call and leaves his loving wife to join the crumbling military. He finds himself seemingly alone as unit after unit surrender to the Wermacht but struggles to bring together a small garrison of soldiers in the Norse country side. The film is visual eye candy. Beautifully filmed and staged. It is a touching story of an old patriot's last stand.
It's a monocle and 1/2 a Dom.
