Testing out NetFlix and watched this one last night.
What to say? Felt like I was watching a b&w talkie from the 30's, not 1956. The acting was, for the most part, excellent. Von Sydow was one weird looking dude in his younger days--very powerful and skullular. I was not bowled over by the symbolism or storyline but was rather touched when the good knight gave the young "witch" a herb to kill her pain before the burning.
One other thing: Swedish is one weird, harsh language--more so than anyother I've heard!
