Are those inflation adjusted? And since when is the crap level measured by how much money they gross?According to Box Office Mojo, Sky grossed $1.1b compared to an inflation adjusted Thunderball at $1.05b. So in 47 years, they've made virtually no progress on and inflation adjusted basis.
If you enjoy the films that's fine by me. I don't particularly care for them. The ones I enjoy the most are the first three. They were the most true to the Fleming books. For me they're the best because they're carried by their underlying story and the shear gravitas of the character. They were spy stories with a bit of fantasy thrown in. Each successive film became more fantasy and gimmickry, and less and less about spy and frankly less about Bond. That's why I had such high hopes that the Casino reboot was a return to the original balance between spy and fantasy. Sadly, it didn't turn out that way with the following Craig films.
