Nelly (Nina Hoss) survives a concentration camp and returns at the end of the war accompanied by a best friend who is rebuilding her a new life. Her face was reconstructed and was unrecognizable to everyone. Nelly was a well-known popular singer before and during the war until she was outed as a Jew. She thinks it was her husband who betrayed her and she sets out to find him and divine the truth.
