Darkly lit, up-close camera, and a healthy dose of reality for the genre, this tight little film gives Lively a shot at being an unlikely action star.
Revenge is the name of the game and Lively's loss of family in an airliner attack destroyed her mind throwing her into prostitution and drugs. The beginnings of her rehab start with an indie journalist whose info leads to her mentor, Jude Law. Law sees he can probably get her to perform his revenge and guides her in that direction.
Lively plays an assassin not fully-developed. She is NOT Jennifer Garner in 'Peppermint'. She is flawed, weaker, and often not prepared. That I found interesting.
For me, Lively looked much better in darker, more honest lighting, than with blond tresses and glitz. Action may not be her gig but there's a set up for a sequel.
Just wait for cable.
