I don't share your contempt for the common product Any consumer product will have variable quality, but expecting a mass market product to be consistently exceptional is not realistic.I don't pitch a bitch about Stupid TV shows, I accept it as a fact of life. so I try to remain grounded in reality about the need for product in the movie industry, to be intellectually consistent.
One has to separate product from promotion. Most movies hit the screen , make an impact, and are knocked off the screen in a week. Because they sell on promotion, not product. It sounda like your expectations are inflated. Some people read romance novels, I have never cracked one of those popular works, but I am not against them.
The fact that very few movies are ever shown in theatrical release again should temper your disgust with the reality of movies. IF you want to see only good movies, you would have to restrict yourself to a well curated revival or art house.
I like the thrill of the shared experience of a popular movie on a Saturday night. It sometimes makes a poor movie very enjoyable. A you should have been there situation.
