doesn't hear dialogue like this anymore! Brilliant writing: witty, caustic, and surprisingly political.
"Trouble in Paradise" is a well-paced comedy about a Pink Panther like thief who, one night, meets his match. The always excellent Herbert Marshall teams up with Miriam Hopkins and all is well until the femme fatale, Kay Francis (Hollywood's greatest '30-'36 star), sashays into the picture.
No, doesn't sound like much, does it? But the ingredients of a soufflé aren't, either. In the master hands of Lubitsch, we are transported to a world of beautiful sets, sparkling dialogue, beautiful people--- and yes, more than a few spoonfuls of truth along the way.
Highest recommendation. Kanopy features it--- free, from this library service!
