Carrie Coon's Chief/Deputy role is well-written and not derivative of the McDormand role. Ewan McGregor convincingly creates two distinct brothers with voice, gait, mannerisms, and appearance truly believable. David Thewlis? Evil incarnate, with that Coen casualness that makes it all the creepier. Mary Elizabeth Winstead, as the girlfriend is brilliant, with a character evolution that must be seen.
So, superb cast. The writing makes it very hard NOT to binge; the dialogue is far above pretty much any other series that springs to mind: the writer, Hawley, is a talented guy.
This isn't just a simple tale of vengeance: it has those Coen attributes of some metaphysics, philosophy, ethical musing, and zaniness that sets their work apart and above.
(To the snipers: yes, I know it's been reviewed before).
