"The Rider:" from director Chloe Zhao,

responsbile for "Nomadland," came this previous film about a former professional rodeo rider who suffered a serious injury and is trying to get back to the circuit. Beautifully filmed on location in the South Dakota hills, the film features all non-professional actors: the lead is an actual rodeo rider and his family members are actually so. I found all this out after I saw the film and was amazed: the acting is unnoticeable--- they portray their own lives without the least affectation.

A man is highly skilled and successful at a profession when a life-threatening injury occurs; should he give up his life-long dreams and love or risk death or permanent disability? This film has a highly deserved 97/100 Rottentomatoes rating; I first saw it at a film festival where I rated it among the top 3 films of the 25 or so I saw.
