director (Michel Franco, from Mexico) has a current release, "Sundown," that also stars Roth and is getting many good reviews.
If you know and appreciate the films of Austrian Michael Haneke (the most known being, "The White Ribbon"), then you'll be of the right mind for this film. Roth portrays, in an amazingly understated performance, a man who cares for patients at the end of their lives. Yes, some scenes are hard to take, but none are gratuitous and, after all, how many of us easily watch horror films with buckets of gore? The director doesn't deliver to us any specific information about the caretaker; rather, we are given some pieces of a cleverly designed puzzle to figure out. Warning: this is not a fast-paced, action thriller--- though there is a sense of ominous tension that inexorably builds. Be patient (sorry...) and you shall be rewarded.
