Jessie Buckley is tortured by her husband's suicide as a result of her throwing him out. She decided that she needed a fortnight away in the countryside to heel her wounds so she could resume her life in London.
Arriving at the 500-year-old edifice she is greeted by Rory Kinnear who settles her down in a most unsettling way.
The next day she takes her first walk in the woods only to see then be stalked by a naked man (Kinnear). This is the beginning of one of the trippiest films in recent history.
The cinematography is outstanding with it featuring the house, the surrounding woods, and the ever-intensifying terror and malevolence.
Jessie was quite good but Rorry needs a prize for tolerating the most outlandish makeup and effects work of any actor.
This film is compelling but not for the squeamish.
