Hamer got screwed in Beatty's glamorous take.
Read the manos arribas telling MANY times, mostly in James Lee Burke novels.
Harrelson and Costner (and Bates) were excellent but certainly no acting chops were streched.
Pretty somber (as it should be) and had LOTS of notes and tones of "Road to Perdition"- mostly
due to Thomas Newman's soundtrack, the period and ... rain.
The crowd scene at the end was particularly sad.
Good, solid film witch we enjoyed.
