I was leary myself and didn't read her review until after.
It's Ali Wongs film in which she also gets a writing credit "Always be my Maybe". After wasting my time watching the other new on Netflix Sandler/Anniston turd I was more leary.
Guess what? It's pretty good. It had far less cliche crap than the Sandler film.
Actually as I write this I'm saying to myself how low is the bar or have I put the bar for modern Hollywood?
You know, I'm overthinking it. It was worth watching. It is/was a new perspective. Just different enough from the Hollywood formula.
It's also different in that it's an Asian-American film. Written by Asian-Americans.
If you watch you'll see the difference and that it's a nice change.
Is it 100% Hollywood cliche free? No, but it's good.
