No, it has nothing to do with the Fab Four. It is about a ship's officer who goes on short shore leave in Tierra del Fuego to visit his sick mother.

This film is poetic, cerebral, beautifully filmed--- and the actors are amateurs, but not in their actual "acting." Actors spend a lot of time trying to mimic "real emotions. Here, you realize authenticity is natural.

Bresson. Tarr. Ozu. If you like films that demand the viewer pay attention, actively, you may appreciate this film. I saw it years ago and, when I saw it was on "Criterion Channel," felt like I was going to visit an old friend I hadn't seen in years.

Second viewing confirmed my feelings: it is brilliant filmmaking.
