Toshiba SD 3109 DVD player ? DVD is not a film-lovers format?

63.26.11.18

I went out Fri. to buy a satalite dish, and couldn't find anyone who had one in stock. My last stop was the mid-fi store, and they showed me some really nice toys--more on that later. So I impulse bought this DVD player. Did I do good? At the Blockbuster they didn't have anything good to rent on DVD, except for Taxi Driver, which I intend to buy, and perhaps one or two others that I've seen too many times already. So Sat. I went to Tower to get some software, and bought "The man who would be king" and "Dr. Strangelove" (that's all I could find--man there's nothing but junk on DVD! Had I known that, I never would have bought it!). They had a foreign section with 3 titles! Two of them were kickboxing.

I feel stupid. I should have bought the JVC S VCR, because I already know I can get excellent titles on VHS. I just think it's so sad that film lovers have been excluded from this premium format. I should have come here and asked you guys about this first. I wonder if Bryn Mahr will take the stupid thing back? Haven't been to the rental websites yet.

Any comments?
