Names of these movies?? possibly in the art genre

Can anyone name these movies - one is about an artist starting with a name beginning with P and a postman who keeps delivering his post every day. It seemed Italian. Very good, not extremely deep or anything.
Another was about a cook who is very passionate about his Italian cooking - real Italian, not American etc. etc. this was more of a main stream at least for me comedy but still pretty enjoyable.
Neither movies are phenomenal or anything like that. I just wanted to remember the names.
I saw Kundun recently on VHS. Is is really good on DVD too? Worth owning?
And Victor, if you read this, please tell me where TLA is in Philly. I live in a suburb so I have access and may go there if there is a good movie. For now, I will watch Solaris if I find it. It is in English right?
