This "Apollo 13 Meets Close Encounters Space Odyssey" wannabe is seriously lacking in pace, energy, and focus. Don't even bother when the home video version comes out; you'll thank me later. Good actors plus lousy direction = lousy movie.Technical flaw for molecular biologists: the graphic image of the DNA molecule derived from the alien audio pulse code is stereoscopically inverted, as it is a left-handed double helix relative to standard B-form DNA (which is right-handed). It also has no major and minor grooves, again unlike B-form DNA. When the alien shows a DNA molecule image in its hand, it is in the correct B-form, with a right-handed double helix and major and minor grooves. There's other problems with the molecular biology used in the film, but why bother when the whole movie sucks!
