unique key to understanding it. I think there are clues that not
all people in the movie are a product of hallucination. And I think
that this makes a good point about the emptiness of this generation.
While on the surface everything seems to be going well with no major
troubles, no war, no economic difficulties, there is an emptiness,
a lack of ideals, a need for real problems and directions. And the
result is people either not doing what they love to do (being a
veterinarian instead of a store owner) or following a mad cult-leader,
who -- as you point out -- is interesting himself, and who may very
well be an extreme instance of that.
