Two hours of relentless horror

216.158.42.31

Horror that grabs you the first minute and never lets off. Constant, merciless torture that seems to have no end to it, other than the natural outcome.

Horror that chills your whole body while there are no red paint and plastic guts in sight.

The true horror of "Hunger" is that is it so real. It doesn't take animated aliens, big guns and fuel explosion, open guts and heads chopped off. The horror is in the twitching facial expressions and few words. It is in the body language and the whole atmosphere.

Per Oscarsson is excellent in this 1966 movie and Gunnel Lindblom (another one of many Bergman's stars) is convincing (who can forget her in the Virgin Spring?).

Not a movie for every occasion, and one some would, without doubt, find utterly disturbing, but if you like the deliberate study of the most simple human emotions, this one will keep you riveted.

Comes highly recommended with a gentle warning attached.

Added bonus - it will most likely force you to open the Knut Hamsun's biography again - guess what we did for the next half-hour?. And one disturbing biography this one is.
