It was OK. Hanks "four years later" was indubitably great. I admired that we stuck with him entirely throughout the island time. But there were some niggles too.Did they have to stage the FedEx truck scene smack in the middle of Red Square? Local color, yes, but what of local unbelievability? I'd have liked to have seen some dreary Ninotchka-like Moscow industrial flatlands with padded-shoulder, flat-topped crime bosses hanging around collecting mockshi. And as for the "four weeks later," the dialog was hilariously "well-made" to summarize what had transpired, in the oldest (and worst) stage tradition. Plus, psychologically, I don't think the re-entered Chuck Noland made any sense. Nor would a confrontation with his wife have been arranged in a FedEx airport suite; there'd have been "counselors" crawling all over the place.
The water effects, however, were more realistic and therefore chilling by far than The Perfect Storm. Fie on CG!
