Comissar isn't about WWII. It's about a Jew and a gentile woman in the time of Revolution. Excellent film!!!
I recommended The Dawns. Try to find it. If you won't be lucky, I'll check out the local Russian video/book store, perhaps even today, since I have to pick up some Nabokov for a friend. Some of the tapes they sell have subtitles.
I could only find info on Porokh(Gunpowder).Never heard of the other ones.
Also try The Thirst(Zhazhda).
And The Ballad of (or about?) a Soldier - a true classic. It's available on dvd.
