While I don't have any issues with Mr. Spielberg (although I don't share his politics), I do have issues with Messrs. Travolta and Cruise for their substantial support of the "church of scientology." It is not that I don't share the church's beliefs (hell, I don't know too much about what they are); it's that I don't approve of how the church has used the legal system. So, I confess to being, at best, a reluctant attendee at their films (only a very positive reivew will do).

There was a Jewish lawyer of my acquaintance (not long ago deceased) who fought in WW2 and also held sub-cabinet posts in the Truman administration. Although he could certainly afford them, he would never buy German or Japanese automobiles. It was, for him, a matter of principle.
