But could you please explain to me why all those comparisons to Kibrick? That sounds to me like a ploy by Spielberg himself, planting this idea in people's minds, in his desperate attempt at achieving "greatness" if not by artistry, then my manipulation.
There is nothing in his previous work that providea ANY foundation for such comparisson. This one? I will wait till it is shown on free TV for my judgement but somehow I don't expect to be surprized.
So why drag Kibrick's name through all this mud, why not compare Spielberg to Richard Gere or Steven Seagal - something that would be more appropriate?
After all, Kubrick IS one of my favorite directors...
