Home Films/DVD Asylum

Movies from comedy to drama to your favorite Hollyweird Star.

I caught a few last week.

Went to a nice "art house" theater in Madison, Wisconsin last week and saw "Princess and the Warrior", "Sexy Beast", and "The Closet". Concerning the first: I can't believe that Tykwer made another film with a happy ending! What's happening to that depressing German film tradition we know and love? Kingsley's Don Logan in "Sexy Beast" is so frightening that I'd take him over Richard Hatch on Survivor Island any day. Almost lost a kidney laughing at Depardieu ending up in a sanitarium in "The Closet" (also, is it possible for a man to fit into a suit worse than Depardieu on company picture day?).

My shipment of DVDs came in with four from Japan ("Double Suicide", "Maborosi", "After Life" and "Fireworks"), "Quills", and "A Map of the World", so I've got some catching up to do with my viewing.
