Interesting. I always wondered where that mountainous terrain was shot, cuz it sure as heck wasn't western PA! The steel mill scenes in Deer Hunter were filmed in the town where I grew up - Weirton, West Virginia - about 35 miles northwest of Pittsburgh, in West Virginia's northern panhandle.Cool.
