I got the same exact words about the "Weekend", Godard's film I tried to watch yesterday. I don't remember the last time I had to turn a movie off, but it was so meaningless and full of it that I had to pull the plug. It was filmed the same way as those dated color pictures you find in old Time-Life cook books.
Japanese film "After Life" is bizarre in a way that it consists of two films, one - sort of like a cross between Bergman and Tarkovsky, and the second part is Fellini, all filmed by a Japanese director with a double name. Cooky. It's not implied that he lifted the stuff from those guys, but you get a sense of it. Not a bad film, btw. Excellent acting!
Will brace myself to finish watching Khrustaliov tonight.
