Did you like "Underworld"

Just got the DVD via Blockbuster's $12.99 trade-in deal. The premise is an interesting one but poorly executed IMO. Still like Kate Beckingsale, though.
Can anyone explain to me why Lucian, after injecting himself with the "super" blood, didn't transform into some superman and NOT die from the silver shots?
