Sorry orejones, but LoTR (TRoTK) lived up to and surpassed my expectations as it did for 97% plus of the knowledgeable critics and a similar percentage of pleased movie goers who've managed to see each of the films in this trilogy! The audience applauded at the conclusion of the last film in the packed theater where I saw it; no offense, but if that's what "overrated" means then I sure must have the definition mixed up! ;^)I respect the fact that you didn't care for this series and this just may be a matter of differing film tastes, but we may just have to agree to disagree here. IMHO, there are MANY films which are vastly more overrated than The LoTR trilogy.
We may not see eye to eye on this, but let's not split hairs over the issue and turn this into another unnecessarily lengthy LoTR thread.
