Planet of the Apes (35th Anniversary edition)

4.47.94.50

". . . the question isn't so much where we are, but WHEN we are . . ." (C. Heston)

Just picked this 2-DVD set up at Best Buy this afternoon, previewed a small portion . . . This is such a brilliant, well-executed movie . . . not many modern movies live up to the descriptor "suspenseful." IMHO, Heston is well cast--he's athletic-looking and strong-willed. The surprise ending--can you think of many or any other movies that top it?

I know some are upset that Fox and other companies continue to wring money out of consumers by releasing the same material over and over again. Yeah, this bugs me too.

But I've never owned this movie, so a purchase is fully justified since I always prefer widescreen, anamorphic, and DTS 5.1. If this transfer is improved from earlier releases (I don't know), then a purchase might be justified; otherwise, as already pointed out, the extras are already available. I never buy movies for the extras anyway, though . . . enjoy the weekend!

regards, townsend
