Nixon

In my opinion this is one of the finest movies ever released and is Oliver Stone's masterpiece. The original, at 190 minutes, shows up on broadcast (well, cable) TV and one of the DVDs adds another 22 minutes to an already long fim. But the editing is THE best I have ever seen and the casting is spot on. Anthony Hopkins, as Nixon, does not attempt a Rich Little impersonation, but due to his skill as an actor you accept his Nixon within a minute or two. Having lived through the Watergate era it centers on, I am always blown away bt the incredible casting: every single person looks and acts like the real historical character. And I alway (ALWAYS) cry at the end, when Stone moves from the Hppkins character to the real Nixon. This is one not to be missed. Stone set out to do a hatchet job and ended up producing a tragedy of Shakespearian proportions.
